Broadloom
The
manufacture of Broadloom wirecloth for the papermaking industry
was the foundation for modern weaving at United Wire today, and
our expertise and experience in this market remains a valued asset
for many of our customers.
As the name suggests, Broadloom wirecloth is woven in a wider width than the standard wirecloth specification of up to 2.1 metres.
Broadloom wirecloth can be produced in widths approaching 10 metres and to lengths extending to 120 metres providing a substantial area of wirecloth for use in many industrial applications.
Typical uses are for processing belts for various continuous manufacturing processes such as those found in the food, paper and industrial products markets. Broadloom product is also increasingly being incorporated into structural designs.
As in the standard size specifications, a variety of alloys and weave patterns are available to order.
Broadloom wirecloth can be supplied in various formats to meet your requirements:
Open ended – without any seams or specialised finishing
Endless – supplied seamed and
ready for installation and with protected edges if required. Seaming
techniques include:
· Micro-Plasma
· Solder
· Loop seam (can be supplied open ended with joining pin
packed separately)
Diagonally seamed – for cylinder moulds
Additionally, all material can be supplied stretched and treated
to ensure material arrives on your premises ready for use in the
best condition.
The range of specifications available is more limited compared to narrow loom wirecloth and, due to the size and very much bespoke nature of this product, much of this type of cloth is made specifically to customer order after a detailed technical dialogue.
Nevertheless, a limited stock is available of some material, although early discussion with respect to your requirements is always strongly recommended.
The following table provides some indication of the possibilities available. You can download the table from the wirecloth download section. Material is also available in more complex formats such as mixed medium (Metal/Synthetic), flat warp, single twist, and chevron twill. As with traditional narrow loom wirecloth, the possible weaving range is virtually limitless, and within our standard range and specialised weaves, we are sure to have a combination that meets all your requirements in terms of aperture, strength and open area.
